The water skyline of Bitterfeld
Bitterfeld at a lake? - an utopia gets reality. The skyline of Bitterfeld stretches over a 2,5 km long shoreline from the stadium ´´Fritz-Heinrich-Stadion`` to the ´´Große Mühle``. The still existing industrial buildings (part of the protection of historical be  nments) shall be developed for cultural and commercial purposes. Even a town harbour shall come into being here.
The shoreline with 100 lamps was officially handed over to the inhabitants of Bitterfeld in April 2000. For a long time, strollers and joggers have been using this area as a new recreation and leisure centre.
In the long run, residential and office buildings, gastronomy and commerce will be established here. Bitterfeld as an attractive industrial location with a recreational area at the edge of the largest lake district in Saxony-Anhalt will make the old image of the disreputable city fall into oblivion.
